ABOUT

Dr Wang Kun is currently Assistant Professor of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before that, he is a tenured Associate Professor in The University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Beijing, China. He obtained his BBA (first-class Honor with GPA 4.0 out of 4.0) and MPhil degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in year 2010 and 2013, respectively. Then, in 2018, Dr Wang was awarded the PhD degree from Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC), with his thesis wining the Best Graduate Student Paper Award, the US Transportation Research Forum 58th Annual Meeting, Chicago, US.

Dr Wang has the research interests in transport and logistics management, focusing on aviation operations and management, transport environmental issues, intermodal competition and cooperation. He published near 80 SSCI/SCI journal papers, with nearly 30 papers on top tier transportation journals, namely Transportation Research Part A/B/C/D/E, also several papers on renowned economics journals (International Journal of Industrial and Organization, Energy Economics, Journal of Transport Economics and Policy). His work has been widely cited with Google Scholar citations more than 2700 times, and 6 articles have been selected into the ESI highly cited papers. He is awarded the “World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University” in 2023. Dr Wang also serves as Editor of Transport Policy (SSCI JCRQ1), and Editorial Board Members for Transportation Research Part A (SSCI, JCRQ1, ABS 3 star) and several other journals.

As principal investigator (PI), Dr Wang has acquired several external research grants, including 2 NSFC grants (国家自然科学基金), and other grants from Guangdong, Beijing Municipal governments, Ministry of Education of China etc. He has also conducted many consultancy projects for governments and industries, including Civil Aviation Administration of China, Beijing Municipal Government, Xiamen Airlines, Manchester Airport Group. Several policy reports are submitted to governments, including one endorsed by national-level leader (正国级).
